Traveling with kids can be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping them entertained. I recently went on a trip with my little ones, and we brought along some fantastic products that kept them happily occupied and made the time fly by. So, whether you’re on a long flight, road trip, or simply spending a few hours in transit, finding the right activities can make a world of difference. Here’s a rundown of the best travel finds that I highly recommend for your next trip!
1. Magnetic Travel Pieces: A Hit with the Kids
One of the standout travel toys we brought along were these magnet travel pieces. They were nicely packaged and instantly became a hit with Jamison. The magnets allow kids to build and create different shapes and structures which is perfect for sparking their imagination. I loved how the compact packaging is made easy to toss into a bag without worrying about losing pieces. If you’re looking for a fun, creative activity that doesn’t involve screens, this is a great find. I definitely recommend checking these out!
2. Activity Books for Every Age
We also brought along a fantastic activity book full of games and puzzles. This was a lifesaver for keeping the kids entertained during the flight, and the games are fun for all ages. I especially loved that they weren’t just for the younger kids because even older ones will surely find some books and activities enjoyable. The book is great for car rides as well. It’s one of those time-fillers that you can keep going back to, and I’ll admit, I enjoyed doing some of the puzzles myself!
3. Tape Activities: Best for Older Kids
While Jamison enjoyed a lot of the activities, some were a bit too advanced for his age. One such activity involved using tape to create different designs and patterns. It’s fantastic for kids who have better hand-eye coordination (probably best for ages 5+), but Jamison found it a little tricky. That said, it was a fun and creative activity for kids who enjoy a good challenge, and it’s a great brain booster for older children. Just make sure you have some extra tape on hand!
4. Magnetic Ball Toy: The Ultimate Time-Soaker
Everyone loves this magnetic ball toy. It was by far the most engaging toy we brought. The magnetic pieces click together in various ways to form balls, shapes, and even little vehicles. Jamison and I spent nearly 30 minutes building a boat (I lost track of time completely!). The toy comes with picture instructions to help inspire different designs, so it’s perfect for fostering creativity. This toy is the perfect way to keep little hands and minds occupied.
5. Tablets: A Must-Have for Long Trips
Bringing along 2 drawing tablets for each child was a game-changer. Having the drawing tablets meant we could keep both kids entertained without fights over who gets to use it. They were especially handy during long flights, car rides, and even at restaurants during dinner. The kids could watch their favorite shows, play games like Tic-Tac-Toe, and keep themselves entertained for hours. If you’re traveling with multiple kids, I can’t recommend this enough. It really was a lifesaver.
6. Movies for the kids
I downloaded movies and shows from Amazon Prime on the Amazon Fire Kindle and Netflix and the kids were set for hours of entertainment. It was nice to have a backup device for when the tablets ran out of battery or if the kids just wanted to switch things up. I also downloaded their favorite movies in advance, so I didn’t have to worry about Wi-Fi or streaming issues.
I hope this list helps make your next trip a little smoother and a lot more fun. What is your go-to travel activities for kids? Let me know in the comments – I’d love to hear your recommendations!
