Welcome to the world of RVing where every road leads to new discoveries, especially when it involves track days and family roadtrips travels. Today, I’m excited to share our unique experiences with our beloved RV, affectionately named “Lee D RV,” a 2000 Georgie Boy Cruise Master equipped with a sturdy Ford transmission, which has become an essential part of our adventurous lifestyle.
Meet Lee D RV: A Gift Turned Family Treasure
Our journey began with an exciting discovery: my cousin Lee had an unused RV in his backyard that hadn’t been touched in 20 years. Although it looked pristine on the outside, sitting idle had inevitably led to a number of issues. In honor of its last owner, we affectionately named our RV “Lee D RV” after my cousin. This great find brought us closer but also opened up a world of travel opportunities with littles. Owning an RV like our 2000 Georgie Boy Cruise Master is like having both a house and a vehicle; bringing the unique challenges of both. From mechanical upkeep to home comforts, Lee has it all, including his own set of quirks, like a persistent shake despite multiple tire balances and replacements.
Customizing Our Mobile Home
When Lee first became ours, we jumped into personalizing him. The interior got a fresh molding remodel with a coat of paint, and we reupholstered the furniture and valances to make our mobile abode feel just like home. Practical updates weren’t overlooked either; new shocks, suspension bushings, and a regular oil change routine were all part of making Lee D RV roadworthy and reliable.
Designed for Family and Fun
One of Lee’s best features is his capacity to be a fantastic people-hauler. Comfortably fitting 15 people, he’s perfect for road trips, family outings, and especially long days at the racetrack. The ability to nap peacefully between events is something our whole family cherishes, turning transit time into restful escapes.
Track Day Perks with an RV
Track days can be exhaustive, but having “Lee D RV” with us makes these experiences much more comfortable. With a kitchen and bathroom on hand, we easily keep everyone fed and refreshed. Plus, for our youngest who is potty training, having a private bathroom is a game-changer.
While I have a soft spot for older RV models without pop-outs—finding them increasingly rare—the convenience and space offered by models with expandable sections can’t be ignored, especially on crowded track days where personal space is a luxury.
The Bumpy Road Ahead
Despite its charms, RVing isn’t without its challenges. We’re currently dealing with some mechanical issues like the unexplained shake. But the joys of having a portable home at the racetrack—providing safety, comfort, and a private retreat—far outweigh these hurdles.
Why RVing and Track Days are a Perfect Match
For families who love motorsports, an RV like our 2000 Georgie Boy Cruise Master transforms a simple track day into a memorable family adventure. It simplifies logistics, provides on-site comfort, and ensures that even the longest days are enjoyable for everyone.
Whether you’re a seasoned RVer or considering one for your track day adventures, remember that it’s not just about the destination but also the journey—and every mile is worth it with family by your side.
If you’re thinking about blending RV travel with your sporting passions, I hope our experiences inspire you to take the leap. With some love, customization, and maintenance, your RV will not only carry you to your next destination but will become a cherished member of your family. Happy RVing!
